Unlike other types of bangs, long curtain bangs are a middle-parted fringe that grazes the cheekbones. They frame the face and give any haircut show-stopping softness. Ariana Grande, Alexa Chung, and Zooey Deschanel prove how chic and trendy this 70s cut is!
A hairstylist from Illinois, Sammi Wuske has a lot of tips to share about this cut. Her number one rule? Start with long hair versus short hair. “That way, the stylist can establish the best length for your face shape. This length can complement and highlight your features,” she explains.
Wuske agrees that the curtain bangs trend pairs well with a long modern shag cut. It gives a rocker vibe, which she thinks is what is becoming more trendy.
According to Wuske, what you’ll love most about these bangs is their non-commitment. She adds that they’re “easy to grow out into a face-frame. If cut long, they’ll transition into a soft face-frame within two months.”
While this fringe is low-maintenance, it does need time styling. “What I suggest is for all the hair in front of the ear, to always be styled away from the face,” says Wuske.
When asked about her favorite product, she suggests Kérastase Laque Couture hairspray. “This offers a medium hold that lasts while maintaining the integrity of the cuticle of the hair. It’s for smooth, frizz-free bangs all day long.”
