15 Cute Ponytails with Bangs to Copy for 2022

Ponytail with bangs

A ponytail with bangs is a hairstyle where the hair is pulled back from the face, gathered at the back of the head, secured with a tie or any hair accessory, and styled with a fringe in front. With this totally edgy hairstyle, you’ll make a very casual look catch everyone’s eyes!

There are those days when you feel like tying all your hair up into a classic pony – whether it be a day in the gym, under the sun, or when you simply wanna look extra sharp and neat – but that doesn’t mean you gotta do it with less style.

Take inspiration from the ponytail princess Ariana Grande and models Bella Hadid and Ashley Graham, and note how fresh they look with this style. That’s because of the versatility that this look possesses.

The key is to complement your face shape and features by either framing it with your bangs, varying the height of your ponytail, or playing with your mane’s volume and texture. To help you achieve the perfect look, products are also necessary.

You can make a good hair day easily possible with ponytails with bangs! Browse through this updated collection to learn the different styles of wearing this glamorous look!

How would you describe this look?

This look is a beachy ponytail with fringe. I love textured hair with body, and low ponytail suits everyone, especially if you don’t have a heap of hair to work with.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This style would work on most hair types, taking into consideration your hair length and how well your hair holds a wave. Messy looks always look great on hair with color variation. When creating this look you will want to use products that give texture. Sea salt spray is great to create some natural wave then you can add some in with a wand. I would suggest waving the whole head first and then popping it in a pony than working through and separating sections to give it that piecey texture. It’s great for second or third-day hair!

How would you describe this look?

This is a messy ponytail hairstyle with bangs. It has texture that’s soft looking yet still under control for people on the go.

Any advice for someone considering it?

It suits any type of hair but you need to make a soft look with waves or curls by heat tools. Suitable products are a powder or a super flexible spray.

How would you describe this look?

This ponytail hairstyle is ideal for weddings, prom, birthdays, or a fun night out. A simple day at the beach or just lounging around. I love this hairstyle because it is so versatile and can be worn with style and grace at any event. Ask Ariana Grande as this is one of her favorite looks as well!

Any advice for someone considering it?

I love it because it’s a real go-to hairstyle especially for women with short hair who want longer hair. This look can be achieved on all hair types. My model has 4c hair so I blow dried her hair straight. Finished with a nice flat iron and after that, it was manageable enough to mold in place. Once I got her natural hair into place I secured it then proceeded to add the extensions. Taking a healthy section from the back of ponytail, I wrapped it around to create the genie effect, finishing with some cool baby hairs. I used Got To Be Glued holding spray, Salon Pro hair glue, rubber bands, and Bobby pins. Depending on hair type and proper care, like staying away from hot steamy showers & wearing a scarf at bedtime, this look can last up two weeks!

How would you describe this look?

To describe this high ponytail with fringe, I think it’s fun and vibrant! It keeps you feeling sassy, and you stand out of the crowd. It’s not your everyday hair color or style. I love that it’s not something not everyone can pull off, and it takes hard work and time to achieve this color with the style I love which is fun yet classy looking.

Any advice for someone considering it?

If this is your desired color you must understand that it takes a lot of time/patience, quite a bit of money, and realistic expectations of what your hair is currently and actually being able to get to this color. Consulting with your stylist is a must.

If you are someone who washes their hair every day or swims this isn’t a color for you also. The upkeep on it is critical and the right products are a must, you’ll need heat protection (Joico) and good shampoo and conditioner (Olaplex No. 5 & 6), good oil (Morrocan oil), and purple shampoo (Loma shampoo and conditioner). Try to keep heat to a minimum. This color isn’t for everyone and you have to know how to take care of it and make sure you know it’s a commitment.

Side Pony

How would you describe this look?

To me, this side ponytail with bangs is classy but not so ordinary. You really don’t see ponytails much at all on brides. It does take having thicker hair and not wanting to be so traditional but you stand out so much more. Your look is more memorable. I always hear people say “I can’t pull that off” and I love playing the other side and getting people out of their comfort zones. Yes, it’s a ponytail but it still has elements and details to it that make it not so basic and plain.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Hair thickness and length is obviously pretty vital here. This was all her natural hair which makes life a lot easier but I’m sure it could be done with extensions as well if your hair is at least below your shoulders. I love using Oribe dry texture spray to get in there and start to rough up the hair. Silky smooth hair can be tough to style sometimes because gravity just wants to pull it down.

I recommended this bride to get some highlights so whatever hairstyle she had would show dimension and to already rough up her hair just a touch. So many pictures of updos that I see are usually on blonde hair because it shows the style the most. Between highlights and maybe a texture or sea salt spray, you can really get the hair moving and not fall flat.

I live for Oribe “Swept up” or “Puff me!”. These powders go into your roots (or maybe in your curls or a braid) and give so much tact and grit that you get insane volume and texture! It also acts as a dry shampoo to sweep up some grease or oil off the scalp. Seriously the best for bangs too!

I’m a firm believer that anyone can pull off anything as long as they want to. I think sometimes brides let their moms weigh in too much and steer them towards what they want so they look like their “little girl.” I always see half updos and buns, which is what this bride was between, and before I started her bun I had her hair in a ponytail and we both looked at each other and got starry-eyed and how it already looked. I played it up a little more and we fell in love!

How would you describe this look?

I love her natural curls enhanced by strategically placed highlights, adding depth and dimension to her long curly hair. I love how easy it is to use your fingers to comb through the curls. These bangs with a ponytail can be great for any occasion!

Any advice for someone considering it?

Sometimes over working curls can create frizz. Less is more when it comes to curly hair.

I love Bumble and Bumble Curls Defining Creme because it leaves curly hair soft and never stiff. I prefer air drying to defuse when it comes to curls. Curly hair tends to be on the dry side.

Emulsify a small amount of Bumble and Bumble Curls Defining Creme in your hand and run it through damp hair, scrunch it up a little to really define and to get the most out of your curls. Use your fingertips to enhance the fringe around your face.

Using your fingers to tousle through your hair, tilting your head back (So you get it close to your head. Looking down will make a bump or not be tight to your head). Pull your hair loosely to the nape of your neck, leaving a one-inch wide tress of hair out of the pony-tail. Use a hair fastener to make a pony-tail, then take the one-inch piece of hair and wrap it around your pony-tail at your nape to hide the hair fastener. Tuck the end of the hair (at least one inch before the end) into the hair fastener (a fastener is a clear easy slide rubberband). Voila! Easy pony-tail for the on the go working girl who wants to hit the gym after work.
