Fine Short Hair

This short haircut is a layered bob with face-framing and a brow-length fringe by Nicole Miller, a hair artist from Rochester Hills, MI. “The cutest part of this short hairstyle is how I slightly stacked the back to give it a nice round shape. Also, this is the kind of haircut that needs little to no daily styling for it to look nice,” Miller states.

This layered haircut works best for oval or more slender face shapes. It also works best for people with straight or slightly wavy hair. Styling this cut is very easy. If done correctly, a quick blow dry would have it laying nicely. You may need to use a round brush to give it more volume and shape.

Miller suggests this short haircut for people who don’t want to spend a lot of time fussing with their hair in the morning. “This cut also works for thick or thin hair, it does tend to add volume for people with thin hair. If your hair is very thick you may need to have it thinner or texturized for it to lay nicely,” she adds.

Short Boyish / Tomboy Cut

This look is a youthful flowy pixie. Created by stylist Tiffany Landers of Boston, what to love about this look is that it has structure and texture. It can move with you in any direction and still look young.

It’s very wash-and-go. It would be best on someone with naturally straight/wavy hair.

To style, Landers recommends doing rough-dry, air dry, or wrap dry and go with no product yet still have this style be moveable. She adds, “You could throw in dry texture spray or dry shampoo for more of a messy look. You can also put in a paste to really pull out a piecey textured look. It’s great for someone who doesn’t want to put a lot of work into their hair and still be fun with it.”

Short Pixie Cut

This is an asymmetrical pixie cut. Style creator Zhala of Mississauga, ON made it with a soft face-framing fringe to enhance her youthful appearance. “The cutest thing about this style of cut is that it complements her contrast of color and the softness of her cut. The elements work well together. Pixie cuts make fantastic short hairstyles for girls who are active,” Zhala explains.

It depends on the facial shape and features, hair texture, and quality. Zhala always recommends a free consultation. It is very beneficial to the kids and the stylist, to help determine the best look and style that would be both suitable and easy to work with at home.

Short Shaggy Cut for Thick hair

The most gorgeous thing about this cut is it can be for the fun, stylish, girls who like to wear their hair a little undone and not so perfect! This shaggy, asymmetrical bob by look creator Delainea Hubbard from Texarkana, TX has an undercut because the girl had so much hair. “After I cut the perimeter of the hair, I point cut layers at a 90-degree angle,” Hubbard states.

To get all this texture, several different methods were done. Hubbard did a deeper point cutting on dry hair and chipped away at the heavy ends with the very tip of the shears.

To style a textured bob, Hubbard continues, “I used a root lifter and oil to smooth the ends, did a rough dry with my fingertips, and finished with the round brush. I used the flat iron to throw in random curls and waves throughout the whole head.”

It has so much texture that it feels so light and airy for the ladies who are used to so much hair. This style can be so simple with a few curls and some hairspray or texturing spray to finish it off!

Short Bob with Bangs

It’s a basic A-line bob with lots of texture and curved bangs. Stylist Curtis Brooks of Jefferson City, MO used a small round brush while blowdrying, with the concentrator against the brush to smooth the hair and curl it under just a tad. Her natural hair is very straight so this won’t be something she will have to do every day.

“The layers in this haircut give it lots of movement so her hair will be just as bouncy as she is on the playground. Bobs and bangs make cute face-framing short hairstyles for girls,” Brooks emphasizes.

When considering a haircut like this, you’ll want to take into consideration your hair texture (Is it straight, wavy, or curly?) and your desired texture. How long will it take you to style this haircut with your hair type? This haircut is great for this particular girl because of her naturally smooth/straight hair texture. She doesn’t like her hair in her face, so the curved bangs frame her face nicely and stay out of her eyes.

The first thing that comes to mind about this cut is sassy! This little girl has confidence and sass, and this haircut reflects that outwardly for her.

California-based hairstylist Lindsey Wentz made the shape and texture easy for her to style and wear with very little effort. That’s so important for a kid with a sense of style. She continues, “I used Oi All In One Milk and Relaxing Moisture Fluid both by Davines to style her. Her color is absolutely gorgeous and 100% done by nature (I can’t take credit for that).”

This look is great for someone who has medium or fine hair texture and thin or medium to medium-thick density. It can be worn straight or curly/wavy. Wentz would not recommend it for someone who has a ponytail the size of a coke can or someone with an extremely coarse texture.

This shape is great on a round, oval, or triangular (add fringe) face shape and for someone who is looking for the 5-minute style in the morning. Just a little product, quick blow-dry of the front and roots in order to tame any cowlicks and you’re out the door.

Trendy Undercut with Design

It’s a sidecut or ladies’ undercut with a pixie cut and style. It’s a masterpiece by stylist Amanda VanDyne of Fort Worth, TX.

“I love this look for every girl because it’s a super empowering transformation no matter how long the rest of your hair is. Adding a design to the undercut is a fun way to express your unique style and interests,” VanDyne notes.

This trend is very hot right now whether it be the side of the head or the back. It’s great for kids and for women of any age and in any profession. These styles can also be easily hidden for the workplace by simply changing the parting of the hair.

A shaved undercut makes a great style for anyone who has extremely thick hair and loves to wear their hair up. This is also an amazing style on the side if you have short pixie styles because it adds character and creativity to your look.

One thing you should be aware of with this style is that there is more upkeep than your “normal” styles. VanDyne adds, “The undercut is something that usually needs to be maintained about every 2 weeks to keep it fresh and keep the designs bold. The darker her natural hair color is, the bolder the designs will look. I would suggest women with lighter hair colors go with a simpler design so that it doesn’t get lost against the scalp.”
