A tousled lob cut with an ombre balayage is the perfect spring trend. It’s bright and airy. “Blunt cutting the bottom makes it feel fresh and thick. I added a slight angle for a face-frame, giving some bounce when curled,” says Purcel.
To mimic the loose waves, Purcel recommends using a 1″ iron, but leave out the ends. Then, apply Bedhead Afterparty for shine texture and separation.
Jaw-Length Wavy Bob
Tousled waves in a short bob cut give the illusion of width which makes it perfect for long and oblong faces. A fresh blunt cut on a wavy bob hair cut would also help create a shorter face facade and give you a super stylish look.

Remarkable Chin-Length Wavy Bob
A short textured bob that is also a “bedroom hair” or “bed head waves.” This chin-length wavy bob was created by owner and lead stylist Molly Boyd of Carlsbad, CA.
For this chin-length bob, Boyd says its greatest strength is the interior layers that are cut with a razor to give volume and textured flare without it looking chopped, with a bunch of heavy wavy layers on the outside of the hair.
“If you love this textured bob haircut, invest in a wand or curling iron. Find a stylist that can teach you how to use appropriate products for your hair type, and be willing to revisit the salon every 7-8 weeks for a haircut,” adds Boyd.
“It’s a styled bob, so having about 30 minutes in the morning to style it would be important,” she adds. “However, with some dry shampoo or dry texture sprays, you can rock this wavy layered hair for a few days.”
Medium Layered A-Line Bob with Waves
Expert stylist and owner Darci Brown of Ogden, UT created this fun layered wavy bob! “This bob is perfect if you want something with movement and texture, and without having too many layers. This razor cut, medium-length A-line bob is just the thing,” she explains.

Don’t you love the versatility of this bob hairstyle? Style creator Kelli Peterson of San Francisco, CA does! “You can wear it straight or wavy, and the highlights are done with a shadow root so the grow-out is blended and natural,” she explains.
When it comes to styling, Peterson simply states, “have fun with it! You can add a little side braid or pull the top up into a little top knot! Just because you have short hair doesn’t mean you can’t add some fun personality to your hair!”
Wavy bobs can give more visual appeal! If you have some natural wave to your hair, it would be great for summer. Summer and wavy hair pair perfectly. “Just add some product and let it air dry,” she adds.

Wavy Ear Length Bob
Stylist and colorist Luisa Arribas of London, UK created this curled bob style. “This bob is easy to style because it looks good in both straight hair and curly hair,” says Arribas.
“If you have very thick hair, it would be the best because you get a nice volume naturally without having to style it. Also, if your hair is fine it wouldn’t look wispy at the ends, but will feel fuller,” she explains.
You can let it dry naturally or emphasize some wavy locks/strands with curling irons. If the hair is wavy, you can let it dry naturally and apply sea salt spray otherwise add texture spray after curling.

Style director Tanya of Brisbane, QLD created this fun and modern medium bob haircut that features wavy tresses. “The best thing about this medium wavy bob hairstyle is that it’s versatile. You can wear it smooth and sleek or messy and boho. The length can vary as well,” she explains.
“If you’re considering a bob with waves, go to a salon for a consultation so a stylist can suggest the proper length for your lifestyle,” says Tanya.
If you want to style it often, getting the right products is important. “For example, you would want a quality texture spray to create the messier boho look. If you have straight hair, you’ll want to know how to create loose waves with a styling tool,” she adds.

“For women considering a bob or variation of this style, let them know it is a cut that needs styling,” explains Kwasniak. “Make sure that they know not only how to style a wavy bob, but also what products they should be using. You want to be able to recreate this bob at home, and be comfortable and confident doing so.”
Kwasniak says to try these products for styling a bob. “Morrocan Oil is a wonderful heat protectant and also gives the hair great shine. A mousse or root lifter is excellent for finer hair types. Use Amika’s Body Whipped Mousse because it’s lightweight. Puff.Me Volumizing Cloud Mist will also give tons of texture and lift,” she states.
Finishing products are key for messy wavy bob hairstyles! Kwasniak’s go-to products are Amikas Touchable Hairspray and Kenra’s Texture Taffy for those detail pieces.
She says that all women can pull off a bob style with wavy texture! “It really just depends on how you are cutting to either accent or conceal certain facial features. Women with both fine and thick wavy hair that pull the style off with ease.”

Textured Short Bob with Middle Part
Hair and color specialist Jaime Quach of Katy, TX created this short bob with waves. “It’s a textured bob and versatile. It can be worn straight, but it’s best to style it with a soft wave,” says Quach.
When styling a textured wavy bob, Quach advises to always start with a leave-in heat protectant like UNITE’s 7 Seconds. “Then follow up with a blowout lotion. The biggest key to recreating these messy waves though is a dry texture spray. UNITE has one called Texturiza that is amazing. For shorter hair, stick to a 1-inch barrel curling iron,” she explains.
Bobs are all about sass and look good on ladies of all ages. To be recreated at home, you must be committed to curling it on a regular basis. “And just remember, shorter hair is not always faster to style,” she adds.
Auburn Sexy Soft Waves on a Medium Bob
Senior stylist Elise Alves of Oakville, ON created this soft wave bob cut. “It is not quite a curl, but a little more than a beach wave,” she explains.
She goes on to say, “the soft waves provide movement in the hair. Because it’s a little tighter than a beach wave, you also get more longevity out of it because as it falls out it transforms into a beach wave.”
Alves suggests you try Kerastase Creme de la Creme for hold, along with their Nectar Thermique for added heat protection. To finish, try Aveda Air Control hairspray. “If you’re looking to add more body and texture, use Aveda Dry Shampoo all over the roots,” she adds.
The wave adds the beautiful bounce to medium-haired women, bringing fullness and life to their hair that they sometimes feel is lacking.
Slightly Inverted Bob with Waves and Curtain Bangs
A super cute slightly inverted bob with waves and bangs is so on-trend. The long curtain bangs will graze your cheekbones for a lifted feel. The elongated length will slim down any concerning width. Enhance your bob hairstyle with waves using a curling wand and dry shampoo for texture.

She suggests you use a blow dry lotion-like Kenra’s Perfect Blowout and a dry texture spray to finish off choppy bob hairstyles.
“This wavy bob crop is ideal for women with thick or medium textured hair,” she adds. “Plus, it’s ideal for wavy hair that can be air styled or straight hair that can be blown out with volume.”

To create these waves, Shirley says to perform tousle drying with a medium hold mousse. “Then curl loosely and finish off with a texture spray, sea salt spray, or texturizing paste.”
This bob cut is great for a variety of hair types. It can be a wavy bob for fine hair with less layers to give a stronger weight line. For thick wavy hair, adding more layers and texturizing the cut will lighten up any heaviness.
“This is a great wash and wear style for women with naturally wavy hair, but also takes very little time to achieve if you have to blow dry and style it,” she adds.

With every cut comes with how you style your hair every day. “Lobs are great because they can be messy. Literally, wake up and go! Or take a few minutes and throw some waves in there or texture cream and go,” she adds.
Modern Long Wavy Bob
Thanks to the voluminous waves in these dense tresses, this long bob turn out is so captivating! The dimensional bronde shade in this modern long wavy bob could add a glow to your entire appearance.
This long wavy bob was created by hairstylist Halley McGarey of Barrie, ON.
As for the style, McGarey says to use all Bumble and Bumble products. “First, start with Prep which is a primer (kinda like for your face makeup but instead for your hair). Then, use a serum to protect your hair from heat and moisturize your hair. It’s called Save The Day.
After the serum, use Surf Foam Spray to give the style longevity, hold, and texture. After the products go in, rough dry your hair with the blow dryer and create the wave with a 1-inch iron. Always alternate the waves in different directions to give movement and interest to the style,” she explains.
“Give yourself volume with your blow-dryer and product and keep your iron down low, so you get that effortless waves,” adds McGarey. “After all of this, finish off with a texture spray Sumo Spray Wax.”
She firmly believes this wavy lob is a really easy style to do once you get the hang of it. “If you use a good shampoo, conditioner, and products, you should be able to get around 3-4 days of use. This cut isn’t for women who have to wear their hair back for most of the day, unless you don’t mind wearing it half up.”

Hairstylist Emily Willimas of Bristol, UK created this braided bob with wavy texture. “The wavy style can be adapted to all face shapes with a bit of backcombing and tweaking here and there,” she states.
Williams says to make sure the hair is not too clean, as both beachy waves and braids work best in hair that has been lived in for a day or two.
“Use an H2D medium wand and grab random sections. Hold them on the wand for a couple of seconds before releasing them. Holding the hair for a few seconds rather than the usual 10 seconds will mean the hair will get more of a bend rather than a curl, and you want to make sure you wave each section in opposite directions,” she explains.
Almost every hair type and face shape can wear this modern wavy bob. If you have a round face, add some height with backcombing at the crown. If you have a long face then leave out the backcombing and add some width at the sides by really pulling out the braids and not pulling them back.

Pixie Bob Undercut with Wavy Texture
Definitely, a lived-in hair goal! Give this stunning pixie bob undercut a touch of chicness with added waves. An unconventional cut to be paired with a dimensional ash blonde is a total trendsetter.
A common misconception about short wavy hair is that it can only have one style, wrong! Hairstylist Liz Hunter of Boca Raton, FL created this particular style. “A short wavy bob haircut can be very versatile. This wavy hair bob can go from unconventional and playful with a hard side part to show off a high disconnected undercut or parted down the middle for a more conservative yet sharp bob. The color is soft, natural and lived-in that’s perfectly paired with a soft wave to style,” she explains.
When considering a pixie bob like this, Hunter says to be prepared to style and use product! “If you naturally have wavy or curly hair, product is necessary to enhance and maintain this style. If you have straight hair, braids overnight or hot tools will be needed as well as texturizing pastes and/or sprays.”
Shorter haircuts require less styling time but need to be styled! Face shape is also something to consider. Almost every face shape can be complemented by the right short haircut. “Be sure to have a thorough consultation with your stylist to be sure this style is for you,” she adds.
